Prime Minister Visits Ministry of Justice in Aden

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited the Ministry of Justice in the Al-Mualla district of Aden. This visit forms part of his ongoing field tours to various ministries and government institutions, aimed at assessing operational workflows and the implementation of reforms.

Welcoming Reception

Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister received a warm welcome from Justice Minister Judge Badr Al-Aradah and several ministry leaders.

Focus on Justice and Judicial Independence

During his visit, Prime Minister bin Mubarak reviewed the operations of multiple departments and sectors within the ministry. He acknowledged their efforts in supporting justice, enhancing the judiciary’s role, and maintaining its independence. The ministry aims to fulfill its mission of upholding justice and protecting rights and freedoms through logistical support, equipment, and ancillary services.

Engaging with Citizens

The Prime Minister inspected the public services and documentation office, where he met with citizens who shared their experiences regarding the ministry’s services, particularly in documentation. He urged the staff to expedite citizen transactions and prioritize their concerns.

Comprehensive Review of Ministry Operations

Dr. bin Mubarak toured various sectors and departments within the ministry. He listened to explanations from Minister Al-Aradah and other officials about the progress in court operations, documentation, technical offices, information technology, financial affairs, and planning. The discussions included achievements in organizational efforts and the development of technical support for courts, as well as advancements in the automation project.

Meeting with Ministry Leadership

Following the tour, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting with the ministry’s leadership. They discussed the overall activities of the judicial institution and the services it provides to citizens. The meeting also addressed efforts to enhance performance, implement reforms, and fulfill responsibilities in developing the judicial system.

Strengthening Coordination and Institutional Capacity

The discussions highlighted the Ministry of Justice’s vital role in coordinating between the executive and judicial branches. They explored strategies for enhancing institutional capacities and activating legal tools to protect rights and freedoms, strengthen judicial independence, and improve the court system’s efficiency.

Prime Minister’s Address

In his address to the ministry leaders, Prime Minister bin Mubarak expressed his satisfaction with the administrative and technical progress made within the ministry. He emphasized the importance of the Ministry of Justice in supporting the judiciary and promoting the rule of law. He stated, “Your efforts significantly enhance the authority of justice, and your role alongside security and the judiciary is essential in protecting people’s rights and freedoms.”

Addressing National Challenges

The Prime Minister also discussed the general conditions at various levels and the government’s efforts to tackle existing and emerging challenges, including the depreciation of the national currency. He stressed the importance of combating corruption and the potential role of the Ministry of Justice in this regard, including developing oversight systems and collaborating with other bodies to enhance transparency and integrity in government operations.

Commitment to Accountability

He confirmed the referral of several corruption cases to the relevant courts and prosecutors, expressing hope for stringent rulings against those involved. He underscored the need to activate legal accountability tools and enhance public awareness as part of the fight against corruption.

Legislative Reforms and Future Goals

The Prime Minister called for a review of necessary legislative reforms to facilitate access to justice for all citizens. He expressed confidence in the Ministry of Justice and its personnel to realize the government’s vision and priorities, particularly in combating corruption and promoting transparency and accountability.

Minister’s Remarks

Justice Minister Judge Badr Al-Aradah and other ministry leaders discussed the ministry’s priorities and ongoing plans, emphasizing goals related to organizational development and administrative capacity building, as well as improving financial and administrative inspection processes.

The meeting also included the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Engineer Anis Baharitha, highlighting the collaborative efforts within the government to enhance the judicial system and promote justice in Yemen.
