The Yemeni Accountants’ Association has reported increasing threats and violations against its members in areas controlled by the Houthi militia. These actions jeopardize the independence of the profession and the safety of its members.
In a recent statement, the association highlighted alarming incidents involving its members. Certified accountant Mahmoud Al-Hadi received direct threats of assassination from a Houthi leader. Additionally, accountant Ezzedine Al-Ghafari faced arbitrary detention and pressure to return his fees, despite a prosecutor’s decision exonerating him.
The association condemned all forms of threats, assaults, and detentions against accountants. It urged Houthi authorities to implement immediate and transparent legal measures to ensure the protection of its members and uphold the rule of law.
The Yemeni Accountants’ Association reaffirmed its commitment to taking legal and institutional actions to defend its members and uphold their dignity. The association aims to foster a safe professional environment that allows accountants to perform their duties independently and without fear of pressure or threats.
