In a significant move to enhance military readiness, Defense Minister Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Dhaari convened a comprehensive meeting today in Mukalla, Hadhramaut. The meeting brought together the leadership of the Second Military Region, unit commanders, and department heads.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Dhaari conveyed greetings from the political leadership, represented by President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and members of the Presidential Leadership Council. He expressed appreciation for the efforts of the military personnel present.
Minister Al-Dhaari praised the performance and discipline exhibited by the Second Military Region, led by Major General Talib Barjash. He highlighted the military achievements in the region and urged the attendees to intensify their efforts, particularly in training and qualification. The aim is to elevate combat readiness and refine the skills of military personnel to meet operational demands effectively.
The Defense Minister also addressed the critical issue of arms, hashish, and drug trafficking, emphasizing the threats posed by Houthi militias backed by the Iranian regime. He underscored the responsibility of the Second Military Region in securing coastal areas and playing a central role in combating smuggling activities.
In a related development, Minister Al-Dhaari inaugurated the Military Court and Prosecution building within the Second Military Region. He toured the facility and stressed the importance of activating military judiciary processes. He called for addressing pending cases promptly to enhance the efficiency of military law enforcement.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Dhaari visited the military hospital in the Second Military Region, reviewing the health services provided across various departments. He commended the exceptional care offered to military personnel and their families.
Additionally, the Defense Minister laid the foundation stone for a rest house and officers’ lounge in the Second Military Region. This project aims to improve facilities for military personnel.
The visit included key officials such as Major General Ali Al-Fadhli, Deputy Chief of Logistics Support Authority, and Colonel Ali Hatim, Advisor to the Minister of Defense, along with Colonel Abdullah Al-Saqalidi.
This meeting and the subsequent initiatives underscore the commitment of Yemen’s military leadership to bolster defense capabilities and ensure the well-being of its personnel.
