On Saturday, Lebanon reported a significant increase in casualties due to ongoing Israeli airstrikes across various regions. The total death toll has now reached 2,968, with injuries reported at 13,319.
Dr. Nasser Yassin, the Lebanese Minister of Environment and Coordinator of the Government Emergency Committee, provided the latest figures in a report. He noted that within the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes resulted in 71 fatalities and 169 injuries. This surge in violence began on October 8, 2023, when Israeli forces intensified their attacks.
The report highlighted that Israeli forces conducted 109 airstrikes in the last day alone. The majority of these strikes targeted areas in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley. Since the onset of the conflict, the total number of airstrikes has reached 11,876.
As the violence escalates, the report indicates that Lebanon has opened 1,133 centers to accommodate displaced individuals. However, 957 of these centers have already reached their maximum capacity. The movement of displaced persons continues from areas under attack.
The total number of displaced individuals has climbed to 190,083, including 44,041 families residing in shelters. The highest concentration of displaced persons is reported in Mount Lebanon and Beirut.
This ongoing crisis underscores the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and international attention to the situation in Lebanon.
