Governor of Taiz Praises Security Efforts to Enhance Stability

Governor Nabil Shamsan commended the ongoing security efforts aimed at bolstering safety and stability in Taiz. He emphasized that the General Directorate of Police’s plan to regulate and prevent the carrying of weapons seeks to protect civilians and create a secure environment for international organizations and investors.

Launch of the Weapons Control Workshop

During the inauguration of the workshop announcing the Taiz Police’s weapons control plan, Governor Shamsan highlighted the presence of key figures, including Major General Abdul Aziz Al-Majidi, Chief of Staff of the Taiz Axis, and Colonel Mansour Al-Akhali, Director of Taiz Police. He noted that this event marks the culmination of a series of workshops and ongoing efforts to solidify this initiative. Governor Shamsan pointed out that Taiz leads in developing and implementing a comprehensive weapons control plan, positioning itself as a model for security agencies in protecting citizens and ensuring a safe environment for investment and humanitarian work. He expressed confidence in the capabilities of security forces to successfully execute this plan.

Acknowledgment of International Support

The governor also praised the contributions of international partners and supporting organizations, particularly the “Civic” Center for Civilian Support amid conflict. He acknowledged their role in training and capacity-building programs that led to the announcement of this plan. Despite significant challenges, Shamsan believes Taiz will become a benchmark for regulating weapon possession and safeguarding civilians and public and private property.

He reported that the first phase resulted in a 30% reduction in weapon carrying in the city and a 92% increase in crime resolution rates during the first quarter of 2025, marking a 10% improvement over the previous year. Additionally, authorities confiscated 45 unlicensed firearms.

Commitment to Ongoing Strategic Planning
