The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism warns of potential genocide in Hanakah Al-Masoud village, urging urgent international intervention.

Minister Issues Urgent Warning

Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Moammar Al-Eryani, has issued a grave warning regarding the actions of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia. He claims that the militia has committed acts of genocide against the residents of Al-Masoud village in Qifa, located in the Al-Bayda governorate. This warning follows a violent incursion into the village, which included heavy artillery bombardments and drone strikes targeting homes and places of worship.

Severe Impact on Civilians

In a press statement, Al-Eryani detailed the extensive damage inflicted on the civilian population. The indiscriminate shelling by the Houthi militia has resulted in numerous casualties, including women and children. The attacks have destroyed approximately twenty homes. Furthermore, the militia has prevented medical teams from reaching the injured and blocked the delivery of food supplies to those trapped in the village.

Fear and Desperation Among Residents

Nearly 10,000 residents live in about 2,000 homes in Al-Masoud village. They now endure a climate of fear due to ongoing brutal assaults. These attacks have included retaliatory measures, arbitrary arrests of children and the elderly, home invasions, and the theft of personal belongings such as cash, jewelry, and weapons.

International Silence Draws Concern

Al-Eryani expressed astonishment at the continued international silence regarding these atrocities. He believes that this inaction emboldens the Houthi militia to persist in their aggressive tactics, which he describes as a blatant disregard for innocent lives. He emphasized that these actions represent a severe violation of human rights and international laws.

Call for International Intervention

The minister has called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take urgent action to halt these brutal crimes and protect civilians. He also urged for the immediate designation of the Houthi militia as a “global terrorist organization” and for the prosecution of its leaders in international criminal courts for their grave violations against civilians. Al-Eryani stressed the necessity of ensuring that those responsible do not escape justice.

As the situation in Al-Masoud village continues to escalate, the need for international attention and intervention remains critical to safeguard the lives of innocent civilians.
