Minister of Technical Education Discusses Collaboration with Turkish Delegation

In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Dr. Anwar Al-Mahri, Yemen’s Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, engaged with Zubeyir Yilmaz, the Coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and Ahmed Korkmaz, the Head of the Turkish Red Crescent Mission in Yemen. He emphasized that this sector serves as a vital pillar for economic and social development, directly contributing to reducing unemployment and creating sustainable job opportunities for young people.

Challenges Faced by the Sector

Al-Mahri acknowledged the numerous challenges the technical education sector has faced in recent years, primarily due to the repercussions of the war instigated by the Houthi militia. These challenges have adversely affected the level of equipment, infrastructure, and training programs in various educational institutions. He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to attracting additional support to implement developmental projects aimed at updating curricula and training programs, enhancing the skills of trainers, and equipping workshops and laboratories with modern tools.

Turkish Support for Vocational Training

Representatives from the Turkish delegation expressed their commitment to supporting the technical education and vocational training sector. They recognized it as a vital area capable of addressing unemployment issues and empowering youth with the skills needed in the job market. They also indicated their readiness to explore potential interventions in technical education institutions based on available resources, aiming to enhance their capabilities and improve educational and training outcomes.
