Minister of Industry Discusses Economic Cooperation with Chinese Embassy

In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohammed Al-Ashwal, engaged with Shao Cheng, the Chargé d’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China to Yemen. The discussion focused on enhancing and developing mechanisms for mutual cooperation and strengthening economic and trade relations between the two friendly nations.

Key Topics Addressed

The meeting, attended by Deputy Minister Salem Al-Wali and Undersecretary Ali Atef, covered several issues of mutual interest. Notably, the officials discussed facilitating direct access for Yemeni exports to China. This initiative aims to alleviate burdens on local traders. Additionally, they explored the return of major Chinese companies to invest in Yemen and the completion of the Free Trade Zone.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Minister Al-Ashwal emphasized the depth of trade and economic relations between Yemen and China, which exceed $3 billion annually. He highlighted the importance of ongoing coordination and joint meetings focused on trade and industrial aspects. Furthermore, he expressed the ministry’s readiness to provide all necessary logistical support for reopening Chinese exhibitions in Yemen.

Continued Support from China

In response, Shao Cheng reaffirmed China’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance across various sectors in Yemen. He assured that the embassy would facilitate visa issuance for Yemeni traders, emphasizing China’s support for Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, and efforts to enhance security, peace, and stability.

This meeting marks a crucial step in fostering stronger ties between Yemen and China, paving the way for future collaboration and mutual growth.
