In a significant move to stabilize the economy, Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Brek has instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate with relevant ministries and local authorities in Aden and liberated provinces. The goal is to form field teams and implement monitoring and inspection campaigns aimed at regulating the prices of goods and essential supplies. This initiative aligns with the recent improvement in the national currency’s exchange rate.
Prime Minister bin Brek emphasized the necessity for all traders and suppliers of basic and consumer goods to review and reduce their current prices. He stated that this adjustment should reflect the decline in exchange rates, thereby alleviating the financial burden on citizens. The Prime Minister urged traders to act responsibly, considering the humanitarian situation and the ethical obligations to mitigate the suffering of the populace. He stressed that any stabilization of the national currency must coincide with a corresponding decrease in food and consumer prices.
A government source highlighted that the administration’s policy focuses on safeguarding citizens’ interests while simultaneously protecting and developing the private sector. The source pointed out that improving the economy and enhancing economic resources requires a collaborative effort to overcome the ongoing crisis.
This proactive approach aims to create a more stable economic environment for all citizens, ensuring that the benefits of currency stabilization reach every household.
