Minister of Health Evaluates Primary Healthcare Services in Khawr Maksar District

ADEN, Yemen – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qassem Baheeb recently conducted an assessment of healthcare services at various primary care facilities in the Khawr Maksar district of Aden. This visit is part of the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives to bolster the healthcare sector’s capabilities and improve service delivery.

Inspection of Healthcare Facilities

During his visit to the Kuwait Health Center, Dr. Baheeb received a comprehensive briefing from the center’s director, Dr. Munira Baamirhan. The discussions focused on several critical areas, including:

  • The quality of services provided to citizens
  • Patient intake levels across various clinics
  • Emergency obstetric and basic healthcare services

Additionally, Dr. Baheeb inspected the Khawr Maksar Health Complex, where he learned from its director, Dr. Wadi’a Mohammed, about significant health interventions and ongoing efforts to expand services and enhance overall performance.

Emphasis on Strengthening Primary Healthcare

Dr. Baheeb emphasized the vital role of primary healthcare facilities as the first line of defense within the health system. He highlighted their importance in:

  • Alleviating pressure on central hospitals
  • Expanding access to essential medical services
  • Improving the quality of care in local districts

He urged for immediate action to address existing shortcomings, enhance the working environment, and ensure the provision of essential resources as per available means.

Activation of Medical Referral System

The Minister also called for the activation of the referral system among health centers, units, and hospitals. This initiative is designed to facilitate organized patient reception and optimize the utilization of available healthcare resources.

Commendation for Healthcare Staff

Dr. Baheeb commended the dedication of healthcare and administrative staff at these facilities, recognizing their efforts despite ongoing challenges. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting and developing these facilities in the forthcoming phase.
