A tragic incident occurred on Monday when a woman was shot and killed by a Houthi sniper while tending to her sheep near her home in the Al-Kharaza Valley, located west of Qataba District in Al-Dhale Governorate.
Local sources reported that a bullet from a sniper affiliated with the Iranian-backed Houthi militia struck a 35-year-old woman named Noor Ahmed Ali Al-Layth. She was grazing her sheep in the Al-Kharaza Valley when the attack happened. Following the shooting, she sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in Sanah. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her wounds shortly after arrival.
Sources confirmed that Houthi snipers continue to target civilians, including children and women, in the village of Al-Kharaza and surrounding areas within Qataba District. The militia’s actions represent a continued pattern of violence against populated communities, raising concerns about the safety of residents in the region.
This incident highlights the ongoing conflict and its devastating impact on innocent lives in Yemen. Local and international observers continue to call for an end to such violence and for measures to protect civilians in conflict zones.
