A delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports visits several Rwandan youth and women’s organizations.

A delegation from Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Dr. Nadia Abdullah, the Undersecretary for Women’s Affairs, recently visited several Rwandan youth and women’s organizations. This visit, coordinated with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), aimed to explore Rwanda’s successful recovery from conflict.

Insights into Youth Entrepreneurship

During the visit, the delegation learned about various activities and programs implemented by the Rwanda Development Board (BDF). The BDF focuses on entrepreneurship and supports small and medium-sized enterprises for young people. The delegation gained insights into how these projects receive funding and ongoing support.

Success Stories in Sustainable Business

The delegation also toured a cardboard cup factory, which showcases an inspiring success story for young entrepreneurs. This initiative, supported by the Rwandan Cooperation Agency, emerged after the Rwandan government banned plastic materials due to their harmful effects on human health. The factory’s success highlights the potential for sustainable business practices in Rwanda.

Meeting with Imbute Organization

Additionally, the delegation met with officials from the Imbute Organization, managed by Rwanda’s First Lady, Jeannette Kagame. The officials shared the organization’s history, partnerships, and various programs aimed at empowering youth, children, and women. This meeting underscored the importance of collaboration in driving social change.

Empowering the Most Vulnerable

The delegation also visited the Ruhango Youth Initiative, which targets the most impoverished populations in the Ruhango district. This initiative trains young men and women in leadership and entrepreneurship skills over three years. Following the training, participants receive support for their small projects, helping them achieve success.

Celebrating Local Successes

Finally, the team traveled to a local village to observe small projects initiated by trained youth. These projects, which received essential support, have become inspiring success stories for many young people in the region. The visit emphasized the transformative impact of targeted youth programs in Rwanda.

This collaboration between Egypt and Rwanda highlights the importance of sharing best practices in youth empowerment and sustainable development. The experiences gained from this visit may serve as valuable lessons for similar initiatives in Egypt and beyond.
