Yemen reiterates its warning against Iranian interventions and Houthi escalation, supporting referral of Iran’s nuclear file to the UN.

### Yemen Issues Strong Warning Against Iranian Interventions

The Republic of Yemen has reiterated its warning regarding the ongoing Iranian interventions that destabilize the region and threaten Yemen’s security. These interventions include military support for the Houthi terrorist militia and threats to international navigation in the Red Sea. This statement came during Yemen’s address at the September session of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

### Firm Rejection of Using Yemeni Territory

Heitham Shuja’ al-Din, Yemen’s Ambassador to Austria and its representative at the IAEA, emphasized Yemen’s firm rejection of using its territory and ports as a platform to threaten the security of Yemen, its neighbors, and international waterways. He called on Iran to cease all forms of support for the Houthi terrorist militia and to respect Yemen’s sovereignty and legitimate institutions. He also pointed out that attempts to operate direct Iranian flights to Sana’a Airport, which is under Houthi control, represent a blatant violation of Yemeni sovereignty.

### Condemnation of Houthi and Iranian Attacks

The ambassador expressed Yemen’s strong condemnation of the Houthi terrorist attacks on civilian targets and energy facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also reiterated Yemen’s condemnation of repeated Iranian attacks targeting the territories of several Arab countries, stressing the importance of respecting state sovereignty and refraining from interference in their internal affairs.

### Growing Concern Over Iranian Nuclear Program Ambiguity

Regarding the Iranian nuclear file, the ambassador clarified that the concern does not only stem from the lack of information available to the agency but also from the prolonged duration and the broad scope of this lack. This situation hinders the agency’s ability to form a reliable picture of the Iranian nuclear program.

### Support for Referring the Iranian Nuclear File to the Security Council

Shuja’ al-Din confirmed Yemen’s support for the draft resolution presented by the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany regarding the referral of the Iranian nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council. This step reflects the growing international concern over Iran’s undeclared nuclear activities.
