President Alimi Meets U.S. Charge d’Affaires to Discuss Bilateral Relations

On Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed Jonathan Pecha, the U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Yemen. The two discussed the strong bilateral relations between Yemen and the United States, focusing on ways to enhance and develop these ties.

Acknowledging Historical Partnership

During the meeting, President Alimi praised the historical partnership with the United States. He highlighted its leadership role in supporting Yemen’s legitimacy, combating terrorism, and ensuring regional and international security. Alimi expressed gratitude for Washington’s firm stance against the Houthi militias and its maximum pressure on the Iranian regime. He emphasized that these efforts contribute to protecting the international rules-based order.

Local Developments and Government Formation

President Alimi also addressed recent local developments. He noted the formation of a new government based on efficiency and professional records, ensuring adequate representation for women and youth. Furthermore, he pointed out the noticeable improvements in essential services, regular salary payments, and efforts to address electricity issues. Alimi stressed the importance of ending the militarization of cities and unifying security and military decisions under the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

Strategic Partnership with Saudi Arabia

In this context, President Alimi commended the strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia. He acknowledged its pivotal role in supporting Yemen’s legitimacy and safeguarding state institutions. Alimi emphasized the importance of advancing paths toward calm, peace, recovery, and stability.

Commitment to Lasting Peace

The President reiterated the Council’s and the government’s commitment to achieving a fair and lasting peace that ends the war and does not legitimize weapons outside state control.
