Yemeni Foreign Minister Discusses Houthi Escalation with Tunisian Counterpart

Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba held a phone conversation today with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Al-Nafiti. They discussed the ongoing situation in Yemen, particularly the continuous escalation by Houthi militias, which receive support from the Iranian regime. The conversation also addressed the implications of this escalation on internal stability and security in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

During the call, the two ministers explored the bilateral relations between Yemen and Tunisia, focusing on ways to enhance and develop these ties. They also reviewed recent developments in the Arab and regional arenas.

Commitment to National Sovereignty

Dr. Al-Zouba emphasized the Yemeni government’s priority in protecting its citizens, maintaining the functionality of its institutions, and asserting sovereignty over its entire territory. She reiterated the importance of preventing the use of Yemeni land and coastlines as platforms for threatening neighboring countries and international navigation.

Appreciation for Tunisian Support

The Yemeni Foreign Minister praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Yemen and Tunisia, highlighting the continuous development across various fields. She expressed gratitude for Tunisia’s supportive stance towards Yemen and acknowledged its efforts during its presidency of the 166th session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level. Dr. Al-Zouba commended Tunisia’s contributions to fostering Arab cooperation and enhancing coordination on regional issues and challenges.

Tunisia’s Support for Yemen

In response, Minister Al-Nafiti reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s security, stability, unity, and territorial integrity. He expressed Tunisia’s eagerness to develop cooperation between the two countries and to continue consultations and coordination in Arab and international forums on issues of mutual interest.
