The Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance has officially declared that Wednesday, February 18, 2026, marks the first day of Ramadan. This announcement follows the confirmed sighting of the Ramadan crescent moon.
According to a statement from the ministry, a committee tasked with moon sighting, which includes astronomers, judges, and scholars, verified the sighting of the crescent. The ministry referenced a saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “Fast when you see it, and break your fast when you see it. If it is obscured from you, complete the month as thirty days.”
In light of this significant religious occasion, the Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance extended heartfelt congratulations to the Yemeni people, both domestically and abroad. The ministry also recognized the political leadership, represented by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and its members. Additionally, they honored the brave members of the armed forces, security personnel, and all those serving in legislative, judicial, and executive authorities.
This announcement sets the stage for a month of reflection, fasting, and community for Muslims around the world.
