Health Minister Launches National Health Awareness Campaign for Ramadan

Campaign Overview

Today, Dr. Qasim Baheeb, Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, launched the national health awareness campaign titled “Health and Wellness.” This initiative will run through the Awafi health media platform, under the supervision of the National Center for Health Education and Media, in partnership with UNICEF.

Objectives of the Campaign

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Minister Baheeb emphasized that the campaign aims to promote preventive health behaviors among Yemeni families during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative seeks to raise community health awareness, correct misconceptions, and establish healthy practices. Ultimately, these efforts will help protect families and communities while enhancing prevention against common health risks during this sacred month.

Focus Areas

The campaign will prioritize national health issues, particularly maternal and child health, while promoting preventive behaviors and supporting the public health system.

Implementation Strategy

Dr. Aref Al-Hoshabi, Director General of the National Center for Health Education and Media, explained that the campaign will follow a comprehensive approach. This strategy includes prior scientific reviews and quality control before publication, as well as a unified visual identity and media messaging throughout the campaign’s duration.

Content and Engagement

The campaign will produce over 150 digital and radio content pieces. These will feature educational videos presented by specialized doctors and community influencers. Additionally, the campaign will include a series of episodes focused on healthy meals for children aged 6 to 24 months, daily information cards, and interactive competitions on the medical magazine’s page. A radio competition will also air across 48 episodes on eight community radio stations in various provinces.

Duration and Evaluation

The campaign will last for four weeks, with weekly distributions of awareness topics. It will conclude with a comprehensive report evaluating community engagement with the published content and its educational impact.

Call to Action

Campaign organizers encourage the public to follow the “Health and Wellness” content through the official platforms of the National Center for Health Education and Media, the Awafi Yemen platform, the medical magazine, and participating radio stations. They urge everyone to engage with health messages to promote preventive behaviors during Ramadan.
