In a heartfelt message, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, extended his condolences to Bashar Ahmed Qaid Barakat and his family following the death of their father, the late Ahmed Qaid Barakat. Barakat, a prominent political, administrative, cultural, and diplomatic figure, passed away after a life dedicated to serving his country and its people.
President Alimi, on behalf of the council members and the government, expressed sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the family of the deceased during this difficult time. He recognized the profound impact of Barakat’s contributions to Yemen.
The President praised Barakat’s significant roles in various governmental positions. His career included serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Economy and Industry, Minister of Information and Culture, Deputy Minister of Oil, and a member of the Constituent People’s Council. Additionally, Barakat led Yemen Airways and served as Yemen’s ambassador to several European and Asian countries.
President Alimi emphasized that Yemen has lost one of its most dedicated and honest national figures with Barakat’s passing. He reaffirmed Barakat’s commitment to the values of the state and the rule of law. The President prayed for Barakat’s mercy and forgiveness, asking that he be granted a place in paradise. He also wished strength and solace for Barakat’s family during this trying time.
