Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Engages with U.S. Ambassador

Today, Dr. Ahd Jassous, Yemen’s Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, convened with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to discuss potential avenues for enhancing cooperation in empowering Yemeni women economically and politically. A key focus of the meeting was the need to increase women’s representation in diplomatic roles, a critical aspect of fostering gender equality in Yemen.

Addressing Challenges Faced by Women

During their meeting, Minister Jassous underscored the substantial challenges women face amid the ongoing crises in Yemen. She articulated the urgent necessity for increased international and regional support for women’s empowerment programs, emphasizing that such support is essential for promoting women’s participation in public life and decision-making processes.

Government Initiatives for Women’s Empowerment

Minister Jassous elaborated on the government’s ongoing efforts to formulate policies and programs aimed at supporting women, particularly in areas of economic empowerment and leadership.
