In the last week of February 2026, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project successfully removed 1,765 landmines planted by Houthi militias across various Yemeni provinces. This significant achievement highlights ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security for civilians in the region.
According to a recent statement from the center, the demining efforts included the removal of 13 anti-personnel mines, 5 anti-tank mines, 1,745 unexploded ordnance, and 2 improvised explosive devices (IEDs). This brings the total number of landmines cleared in February to 8,447.
Since the inception of the “Masam” project, the total number of landmines removed has reached an impressive 545,952. These mines were indiscriminately planted across Yemen, targeting innocent lives, including children, women, and the elderly. The presence of these explosives has instilled fear among the local population.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, continues its commitment to clearing Yemeni territories of landmines. This initiative not only enhances civilian safety but also empowers the Yemeni people to lead dignified and secure lives.
