On Saturday evening, the Presidential Leadership Council convened under the leadership of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi. The meeting included members Sultan Al-Aradah, Dr. Abdullah Alimi, and Salem Al-Khanbashi, with Tarek Saleh, Othman Majli, and Mahmoud Al-Sabihi participating via video link. Member Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami was absent due to valid reasons.
The meeting, attended by Prime Minister Dr. Sha’if Mohsen Al-Zandani, focused on national updates and necessary government actions at all levels. Participants discussed regional developments, particularly the unprecedented military escalation in the area and its implications for international peace and security.
The council reviewed the overall situation in the temporary capital, Aden, and other liberated provinces. They highlighted progress in recovery efforts, normalization of conditions, and the government’s initiatives to enhance security and stability. Local authorities and military forces have worked diligently to improve living conditions for citizens, with support from Saudi Arabia.
The Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed its full support for government measures aimed at financial, administrative, and institutional reforms. Notably, they approved the state budget for the first time in years, viewing it as a crucial step toward establishing financial discipline, enhancing transparency, and restoring public trust.
The council praised the unwavering support from Saudi Arabia, led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. They acknowledged the new economic aid of 1.3 billion Saudi Riyals aimed at covering state employee salaries and bolstering economic recovery.
The council received a briefing on the serious military escalation in the region, including Iranian attacks on the sovereignty of several neighboring countries. They condemned these aggressive actions, particularly following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian positions, and discussed their impact on national and regional security.
The council strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. They emphasized Yemen’s solidarity with these nations in their efforts to protect national security and sovereignty.
The council held the Iranian regime fully responsible for the consequences of these aggressive actions and called on the international community to take a firm stance against repeated violations of UN member states’ sovereignty. They urged action to prevent any behavior that could ignite a widespread conflict with catastrophic consequences.
The council warned Houthi militias against engaging in this dangerous military escalation, stressing Yemen’s refusal to allow its territory to be used for cross-border terrorist attacks on behalf of Iran.
The council listened to a briefing on the military situation across the operational theater and the readiness of forces to address all escalation options. They commended the vigilance of armed forces and security in countering Houthi attacks and thwarting attempts to penetrate the internal front.
The meeting concluded with discussions on potential local and regional developments and the necessary decisions and recommendations to address these scenarios effectively. Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidency Office, also attended the meeting.
