Information Minister inspects Al-Awn Development Organization and Hadramout Center for Studies in Mukalla

In a visit that underscores the Yemeni government’s commitment to cultural, developmental, and educational initiatives, the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, toured the Al-Oun Development Foundation in the city of Mukalla, Hadramout province today.

During his visit, Minister Al-Eryani, accompanied by the foundation’s Executive Director, Dr. Abdulilah bin Othman, and Public Relations Specialist Abdullah Muqeedhan, delved into the various departments of the foundation. He gained insights into the foundation’s mission of empowering targeted entities through sustainable, impactful grants in an encouraging environment, adhering to international best practices, especially in the fields of health and technical education.

Minister Al-Eryani lauded the foundation’s extensive partnerships with ministries, local authorities, and international organizations, highlighting its robust and diverse network of relationships. Notably, he praised the collaboration with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre on establishing a comprehensive primary healthcare center in the historic city of Hajreen and the partnership with the Islamic Development Bank on a project aimed at empowering non-governmental organizations in Yemen to alleviate poverty in four Yemeni provinces. Additionally, the partnership with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in three Yemeni provinces was commended.

Expressing gratitude, Minister Al-Eryani acknowledged the Al Bin Mahfouz family for their developmental, social, and cultural roles through the foundation and its scientifically based operations, among other initiatives that serve the people of Hadramout. He also appreciated the significant contributions of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen as prominent partners of the Al-Oun Foundation, highlighting their brotherly and noble support as part of the broader assistance to the legitimate Yemeni government and its people across various sectors.

The foundation’s Executive Director provided a brief overview of its cultural initiatives, including the publication of a series of scientific, literary, and historical cultural books to encourage writers and authors. The foundation has also enriched libraries with a vast collection of books and references, in addition to launching the national initiative “Get Your Book for Free” to promote reading and knowledge acquisition.

Furthermore, Minister Al-Eryani visited the Hadramout Center for Historical Studies, Documentation, and Publishing in Mukalla, an independent scientific center dedicated to historical studies, research, translation, and publication. He praised the center’s role in studying the history, civilization, and notable figures of Hadramout, documenting the region’s historical memory, heritage, and humanity, and urged the center’s staff to redouble their efforts to become a reliable scientific reference on Hadramout’s rich history and civilization. He also expressed his appreciation for the cultural activities and events hosted by the center, affirming the government’s eagerness to cooperate and coordinate in support of the center’s national role in serving Hadramout and Yemen at large.

Accompanying the minister during his visit were several notable figures, including the Chairman of the 14th October Foundation for Press, Printing and Publishing, Mohammed Bashraheel; the Head of the Hadramout Satellite TV Channel, Mujahid Al-Haj; the Deputy Minister, Abdulbasit Al-Qaedi; and the Executive Director of the Heritage Fund, Walid Mehdi.
