On Wednesday, local authorities in Hadhramaut announced the arrival of the first shipment of emergency generators. These generators, provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, entered through the Al-Wadiah land crossing and are on their way to the city of Mukalla.
Saeed Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, explained that these generators are part of an emergency electricity project designated for the coastal and valley regions of Hadhramaut. The project boasts a total capacity of 200 megawatts and receives support and coordination from the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen through the Gulf International Energy Company. This initiative aims to enhance electricity generation capacity, improve service delivery, and alleviate the hardships faced by citizens, thereby supporting overall service and developmental stability in the province.
Governor Al-Khanbashi emphasized that the provincial leadership closely monitors the completion of the necessary technical and logistical procedures for the installation and operation of these power stations. The goal is to ensure they become operational as soon as possible, in line with approved plans, to achieve the desired positive impact. He noted that these emergency stations will significantly improve the electrical system until the completion of permanent power stations with a capacity of 200 megawatts.
The governor expressed his gratitude to the Saudi brothers, particularly the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. He confirmed that additional shipments of generators are on their way to the cities of Mukalla and Sayun in the coming period.
This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing the electricity infrastructure in Hadhramaut, promising a brighter future for its residents.
