On Friday, the Republic of Yemen participated in the 12th Forum of the Arab Constitutional Courts Union held in Rabat, Morocco. The forum focused on the theme, “The Impact of Constitutional Judgments in Comparative Constitutional Systems.” The Yemeni delegation was led by Dr. Ali Al-Awsh, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
The forum brought together heads of Arab constitutional and supreme courts to discuss various experiences in constitutional judiciary across the Arab world. Participants examined research papers addressing the authority and implications of constitutional rulings. These discussions highlighted the role of constitutional judgments in protecting rights and freedoms, balancing public authorities, and safeguarding community rights.
During the forum, Dr. Ali Al-Awsh presented a working paper that outlined Yemen’s experience in constitutional law, both legislatively and practically. He discussed judicial precedents and principles established by the Supreme Court, aiming to create common standards for the operation of constitutional and supreme courts in the Arab region.
On the sidelines of the forum, Dr. Al-Awsh met with several heads of Arab constitutional and supreme courts. They explored shared legal issues and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange judicial expertise between Yemen and other Arab nations.
This event underscores Yemen’s commitment to engaging with regional judicial systems and fostering collaborative efforts to improve constitutional governance across the Arab world.
