Arm’s new platform gives smartphones a boost in artificial intelligence and graphics capabilities.

Arm Launches CSS for Mobile 2: A Leap in AI and Gaming Performance

Arm has unveiled its new platform, CSS for Mobile 2, designed to enhance smartphones’ capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming. This innovative platform integrates graphical and neural processing paths into a single system, delivering superior performance and efficiency.

Graphics Breakthrough: Mali G2-Ultra NX

At the forefront of this new platform is the Mali G2-Ultra NX, Arm’s most advanced graphics processing unit (GPU) to date. This GPU marks a significant milestone as the first in the Mali family to incorporate neural accelerators within the traditional graphics pipeline. According to Arm, this integration offers:

  • Up to four times improvement in performance per watt when executing neural network-based graphics.
  • 14% increase in gaming performance compared to the previous generation.

Major gaming companies, including Tencent, Unity China, and NetEase, have begun testing these technologies for integration into their games.

C2 CPU Processors: The Brain of the Smartphone

Arm also introduced the C2 CPU processors, which feature a combination of cores:

  • C2-Ultra, the most powerful core,
  • C2-Pro, the most efficient core, which doubles the SME2 units for local AI task processing on the device.

The platform provides:

  • 1.7 times higher performance in AI tasks,
  • 15% faster single-core speed,
  • 38% lower power consumption compared to the previous generation.

New Tools for Developers

In addition to hardware advancements, Arm launched the AI Portal to assist developers in fully leveraging the capabilities of the new platform.

A Step Towards a New Generation of Smartphones

The CSS for Mobile 2 platform represents a significant advancement towards smartphones capable of running advanced AI agents with greater speed and responsiveness. It promises a more powerful and smoother graphical experience in gaming.
