Yemen Engages in High-Level Forum on Media and Think Tanks

The Republic of Yemen actively participated in a significant forum focused on media and think tanks from Global South countries, held today as part of the China-Arab Partnership Conference in Cairo, Egypt. The event was organized by the Arab League in collaboration with the Chinese news agency Xinhua, highlighting the growing importance of international dialogue and cooperation.

Opening Ceremony and Keynote Addresses

The forum commenced with opening remarks from Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, and Fu Hua, President of the Xinhua News Agency. Their speeches emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration between China and Arab nations, setting a constructive tone for the discussions that followed.

Focus Areas and Participant Contributions

Taking place from May 12 to May 13, the forum features key participants, including Hussein Basaleem, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Abdullah Hazam, Chairman of the Yemeni News Agency (Saba). Approximately 150 attendees from China and various Arab countries are participating, including high-ranking officials, journalists, researchers, and representatives from regional and international organizations.

The forum aims to enhance mutual understanding and integration while strengthening friendships between China and Arab nations. Key focus areas include:

  • Building New Communication Channels: Exploring opportunities for establishing new international communication pathways between Arab and Chinese media.
  • Sharing New Opportunities: Discussing mechanisms for sharing advancements in technology and digital transformation.
  • Media’s Role in Peace and Development: Highlighting the contributions of media and think tanks to peacebuilding and sustainable development.
  • Cultural Exchange: Creating a new vision for mutual learning and cultural exchange between civilizations.

The significance of this forum lies in its potential to facilitate learning about successful models of China-Arab cooperation. Furthermore, it serves as a platform to explore future collaborations and enhance direct communication and experience exchange among all participants.
