UN report: 11,400 African migrants arrived in Yemen in August, a 17% decrease from July.

A recent report from the International Organization for Migration revealed that 11,397 African migrants arrived in Yemen during August, marking a 17% decrease compared to July, which saw 13,687 migrants enter the country.

Routes of Arrival and Migrant Statistics

• 63% arrived via the coasts of Djibouti, reaching Abyan and Taiz.
• 33% came from the coasts of Somalia, all arriving in Shabwa.
• 4% entered from Oman, landing in Al-Mahrah.

Demographics of Arrivals

• Men: 63%
• Children: 19%
• Women: 18%

The organization noted that the total number of migrants who have arrived in Yemen since January 2026 reached 122,258 migrants. This influx continues as tens of thousands of African migrants seek economic opportunities or flee conflicts in their home countries.
