Human Rights Ministry Condemns Houthi Attacks on Residential Areas in Taiz

The Ministry of Human Rights has condemned the ongoing attacks by the Houthi militia, supported by the Iranian regime, on densely populated residential areas in the city of Taiz. The militia has targeted these neighborhoods with mortar shells, Katyusha rockets, and ballistic missiles.

Fear and Danger for Local Families

The ministry highlighted the terror experienced by the family of activist Marwa Al-Nazari after a shell fired by the Houthi militia struck their home in Taiz. This attack placed children and women in immediate danger, transforming moments of safety into scenes of fear and panic.

A Pattern of Violations Against Civilians

The ministry asserted that this incident is part of a broader pattern of violations committed by the militia against civilians in Taiz. These violations include ongoing shelling of civilian properties, deliberate targeting of children and women, and the imposition of a blockade that restricts the movement of residents, turning their lives into a continuous struggle.

A Crime Against Humanity

The ministry characterized the targeting of civilians and populated areas with missiles and heavy weapons as a crime against humanity. It represents a blatant violation of international laws and norms, as well as United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.

Accountability for Perpetrators

The ministry emphasized that the random attacks on residential neighborhoods in Taiz will not go unpunished. Those responsible for these crimes will face accountability and legal repercussions.

Call for International Action

The ministry renewed its call for the international community and the United Nations to take a firm stance against Houthi assaults on civilians. It urged for the lifting of the blockade on Taiz and for support in documenting violations and holding those responsible accountable.
