Ceremony Marks a New Chapter

Today, in a significant ceremony, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi swore in Salem Saleh Bin Brek as the new Prime Minister. This appointment comes at a critical time for Yemen, as the nation faces numerous challenges.

Acknowledgment of Previous Leadership

Following the oath, President Alimi congratulated Bin Brek on earning the trust of the Presidential Leadership Council. He also praised the efforts of former Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, who led the government during particularly complex local and regional circumstances.

Immediate Priorities Outlined

President Alimi emphasized the urgent priorities that Bin Brek’s government must address. Key issues include stabilizing the economy, improving public services, supporting the liberation efforts, and strengthening partnerships with allies, particularly Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as international partners.

Building a Unified Team

The President expressed confidence in Bin Brek and his cabinet, urging them to work collaboratively to overcome current challenges. He called for mobilizing all available resources to restore state institutions and alleviate the suffering of citizens.

Strengthening Legal and Institutional Frameworks

President Alimi highlighted the importance of establishing a solid legal framework for the state and enhancing the effectiveness of national institutions and the private sector, particularly from the temporary capital, Aden, and other liberated provinces. He urged the government to strengthen relationships with local authorities to better serve citizens in accordance with local governance laws.

Commitment to International Obligations

The President stressed the necessity of fulfilling international commitments, completing institutional reforms, and activating governance mechanisms. He called for a robust approach to combat terrorism and corruption in all forms, emphasizing efficiency, integrity, consensus, and partnership values within the Cabinet’s operations.

Support for Humanitarian Efforts

President Alimi reaffirmed the Presidential Leadership Council’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts. He emphasized the need to exercise full authority to mitigate the humanitarian crisis caused by Houthi militias and to achieve the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, stability, peace, and development.
