Prime Minister Receives Head of Mothers of Abductees Association

On Sunday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak welcomed Amina Al-Salam Al-Haj, the head of the Mothers of Abductees Association, in the temporary capital of Aden. The meeting focused on the association’s efforts to advocate for justice for the abducted and forcibly disappeared individuals.

Recognition of Courageous Advocacy

During the meeting, Prime Minister bin Mubarak congratulated Al-Haj on her recent recognition as the recipient of the International Women of Courage Award for 2025. He praised the association’s vital role in championing the causes of the abducted and forcibly disappeared, highlighting the bravery displayed by mothers in their fight against the atrocities committed by the Houthi militia.

Commitment to Release Abductees

Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak reaffirmed the government’s commitment to exert every effort to secure the release of all prisoners, abductees, and those forcibly disappeared in Houthi-controlled prisons. He urged the international community and the United Nations to increase pressure on the Houthi militia to release all detainees, including international and UN staff, and to hold violators accountable for their actions. He also called for an end to the ongoing arbitrary arrests of civilians by the militia.

Emphasis on Human Rights

In response, Amina Al-Salam Al-Haj expressed her gratitude for the Prime Minister’s ongoing support and attention to the association’s efforts. She emphasized the fundamental human right that cannot be compromised: the unconditional release of all abductees and forcibly disappeared individuals. Al-Haj reiterated the association’s commitment to advocating for justice and human rights for all affected families.

This meeting underscores the ongoing struggle for justice and human rights in Yemen, as families continue to seek the release of their loved ones from unlawful detention.
