On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened with leaders of the National Political Coalition, led by Shura Council Chairman Dr. Ahmed Obaid Bin Daghr. The meeting aimed to discuss recent developments in Yemen and the role of national forces in responding effectively to regional and international changes.
President Alimi welcomed the coalition leaders and representatives during this meeting, which is part of a broader series of consultations with various active political entities in Yemen. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among all political factions to address the challenges facing the nation.
Before the discussions began, President Alimi called for a moment of silence to honor the brave martyrs across the country. This gathering coincided with the anniversary of the liberation of Mukalla from terrorist organizations, a victory achieved nine years ago by the heroic people of Hadramout, supported by the Saudi-led coalition and the United Arab Emirates. The President highlighted the values of tolerance and coexistence that define Hadramout’s identity and its crucial role in the national equation.
President Alimi praised the National Political Coalition for its honorable stance in defending the republican system and opposing Iran’s expansionist agenda in Yemen and the region. He stated, “According to the constitution and the governing references of the transitional phase, political parties and components are not just allies; they are partners in planning and decision-making. You are here today to create a shared vision for the glory you have long fought for, not merely as numbers, as seen in militia-controlled areas.”
The President presented an overview of local developments, successes, challenges, and available opportunities to achieve victory and secure a promising future for the Yemeni people. He reiterated his appreciation for the Saudi-led coalition’s support in addressing challenges and ensuring the state meets its essential commitments.
President Alimi pointed to the progress made in the national battle, both locally and internationally. He emphasized the need to correct the misleading narrative about Yemen’s situation and redefine the Houthi militias as a persistent threat to international peace and security. He noted that the international community’s positive shift in stance, including classifying the militias as a foreign terrorist organization, reflects the success of these efforts.
The President also discussed the Presidential Leadership Council’s strategic visions and directives, which serve as actionable documents for political, economic, military, security, media, and diplomatic pathways. He stressed the importance of effective implementation on the ground, stating, “All objective conditions are now favorable for this year to be a decisive one, ending the prolonged suffering of our people.”
President Alimi urged all national forces to resolve their differences and focus on the battle to restore the state. He highlighted that true partnership lies in fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people and achieving liberation, building a just state based on equal citizenship, and criminalizing all forms of racism.
During the meeting, President Alimi listened to a brief overview from the coalition’s leaders regarding their activities, political program, and goals aimed at enhancing unity and national alignment. They discussed the importance of restoring state institutions, ending the coup, and fulfilling the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, stability, and development.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on the coalition’s vision for addressing political and economic changes, alleviating humanitarian suffering, and fostering a broad national partnership to manage the transitional phase effectively. Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, also attended the meeting.
