On Thursday, the Presidential Leadership Council convened under the leadership of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi. The meeting included members Sultan Al-Arada, Dr. Abdullah Alimi, Othman Majali, and Faraj Al-Bahsani, with Tarek Saleh and Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami joining via video conference. Member Aidroos Al-Zubaidi was absent with an excuse.
The council dedicated the meeting to discussing significant local and regional developments. Key topics included the economic, service, security, and humanitarian situations exacerbated by attacks from Houthi militias, which are backed by the Iranian regime. These attacks have targeted oil facilities and international shipping routes.
At the beginning of the meeting, the council extended its congratulations to the workers of Yemen in honor of International Workers’ Day. They expressed deep appreciation for the contributions of workers across various sectors, highlighting their role in promoting dignity, development, and resilience against the Houthi militias’ destructive actions.
President Dr. Rashad Alimi provided an overview of his recent meetings at local, regional, and international levels. He emphasized the importance of sharing policies and coordinating efforts to effectively respond to economic and service challenges while adapting to new developments.
Council members presented brief updates on their assigned tasks and shared government reports regarding the implementation of council decisions. These reports focused on enhancing security and stability, improving living conditions, and ensuring the state meets its obligations, including employee salaries and essential goods imports.
The reports also included a summary of the operational landscape and combat readiness. Members discussed the sharing of information and actions taken in light of the council’s decision regarding front-line unity, as well as updates on the general situation in several governorates.
The council reaffirmed the state’s commitment to addressing bottlenecks in essential services and improving resources. They pledged to support the Central Bank of Yemen’s efforts to regain market control, eliminate monetary distortions, and enhance compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards.
The meeting held the Houthi militias fully accountable for the worsening living conditions, the imposition of international sanctions, and the militarization of regional waters, which harm the interests and national security of the Yemeni people.
The council urged the Houthi militias to prioritize national interests over those of their supporters. They called for an end to the Iranian expansionist agenda, the laying down of arms, and a commitment to peace based on agreed-upon national, regional, and international references, particularly UN Resolution 2216.
The council welcomed the significant positive shift in international support for the Yemeni people’s aspirations to restore state institutions. They emphasized that achieving security and stability in the region and protecting maritime routes begins with supporting the UN member state and its armed forces to assert full control over its territory.
In this context, the council expressed profound gratitude to the coalition supporting legitimacy, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, for their humanitarian and developmental interventions that have greatly benefited the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership.
The council reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous meeting. They conducted a brief review of coordinated recommendations with relevant entities and made several decisions regarding the issues on their agenda.
