The Minister of Local Administration, Hussein Al-Aghbari, has reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to implementing directives from Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Brek. Al-Aghbari clarified that imposing illegal taxes or fees, particularly at security checkpoints on city entrances and main roads by unauthorized entities, constitutes a criminal offense. He stressed that such practices exploit citizens and harm public interest and state resources.
The minister noted that the ministry maintains continuous communication and coordination with governors and local council leaders. This collaboration aims to address illegal practices, including unauthorized taxes collected at city entrances and intercity routes. The ministry is committed to taking all necessary legal actions against anyone found complicit in or negligent regarding these practices.
