In the last week of October 2026, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project successfully removed 2,037 landmines planted by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia across several Yemeni provinces.
The project reported that the removed landmines included 109 anti-tank mines, 33 anti-personnel mines, 1,890 unexploded ordnance, and five explosive devices. This brings the total number of landmines removed since the beginning of October to 6,511.
Masam highlighted that the total number of landmines cleared since the project’s inception has now reached 600,000. The Houthi militia had indiscriminately planted these mines throughout various provinces, posing a significant threat to civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continues its efforts through the Masam project to clear Yemeni land of mines and war remnants. This initiative aims to protect civilians, enhance security, and enable citizens to live in a safe and stable environment.
