Minister Emphasizes Collaboration for Local Governance in Al Hudaydah

Efforts to Enhance Administrative Stability

During a meeting today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Badr Basalama, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the ministry and local authorities in Al Hudaydah. He stressed the need to create a conducive institutional environment that fosters administrative and executive stability.

Call for Improved Infrastructure

Minister Basalama urged the provision of a suitable building for the local authority center in Al Hudaydah. He emphasized that a proper facility would enable the local authority to perform its duties efficiently and reflect its administrative significance.

Discussion on Decentralization and Challenges

The meeting, attended by Deputy Minister of Local Administration, Maeen Mahmoud, also addressed the government’s efforts to enhance decentralization and empower local authorities. The two sides discussed the administrative and developmental challenges facing the province. They explored ways to strengthen institutional performance and enable administrative units to exercise their powers according to local governance laws. This approach aims to support a gradual transition towards effective administrative and financial decentralization.

Government Prioritizes Local Empowerment

Minister Basalama reiterated that empowering local authorities remains a government priority. This initiative aims to revitalize developmental and service-oriented work, particularly in liberated areas, and to improve the quality of services provided to citizens.

Governor Praises Ministry’s Support

In response, Al Hudaydah Governor Dr. Hassan Ta’er commended the ministry’s role in supporting the decentralization process. He appreciated the efforts made to enhance the capabilities of local authorities, both administratively and financially, which contribute to effective local governance and the implementation of developmental projects.
