The Leadership Council convenes with all members to discuss updates on national and regional developments.

Presidential Leadership Council Holds Key Meeting

On Wednesday evening, the Presidential Leadership Council convened under the leadership of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi. All council members attended, including Sultan Al-Aradah, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrimi, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Majli, Mahmoud Al-Sabihi, and Salem Al-Khanbashi.

Welcoming New Members

At the start of the meeting, President Alimi and the council members welcomed new members, Major General Mahmoud Al-Sabihi and Salem Al-Khanbashi. They congratulated them on earning the council’s trust, which helps complete the legal quorum and fill existing vacancies. This move ensures the Presidential institution continues to operate with full constitutional powers and responsibilities.

Security and Military Updates

The council discussed pressing security and military developments, emphasizing the normalization of conditions in the temporary capital, Aden, and other liberated provinces. They commended local authorities and security forces for maintaining public order and protecting both public and private interests.

Additionally, the council praised the role of the armed forces and national formations in enhancing security and stability. They noted ongoing arrangements to withdraw forces from provincial capitals and reposition them in operational theaters across various fronts.

Formation of the High Military Committee

The council highlighted the establishment of the High Military Committee as a pivotal step toward unifying security and military decisions. They stressed the committee’s need to fulfill its responsibilities under the leadership of the Joint Forces of the Coalition supporting legitimacy. This initiative aims to create a stable environment for government operations and improve living and service conditions.

Response to Terrorist Attack

The council received preliminary reports regarding a terrorist attack targeting the convoy of Major General Hamdi Shukri, commander of the Second Giants Brigade. They expressed condolences for the victims and wished a swift recovery for the injured.

The council deemed this terrorist act a significant threat, not only due to its criminal nature but also because of its timing and political implications. It coincides with state efforts to unify security and military decisions, aiming to disrupt the normalization process in liberated provinces.

Commitment to Justice and International Cooperation

The council reaffirmed the state’s commitment to a decisive response to this threat. They pledged to pursue the criminals and their supporters, ensuring they face justice. Furthermore, the council aims to collaborate with the international community in combating terrorism and preventing the use of Yemeni territory as a platform for cross-border threats.

Support from Saudi Arabia

The council welcomed the recent statements from the Saudi Arabian Cabinet, which reaffirmed the Kingdom’s strong commitment to supporting Yemen and its people, as well as ensuring security and stability. They praised the array of developmental projects and economic support for the state budget, highlighting its positive impact on living and service conditions in the country.

Commitment to Southern Dialogue

The council reiterated its commitment to a partnership approach and a fair resolution to the Southern issue. They emphasized the importance of the Southern Dialogue Conference, which Saudi Arabia will host, involving all active components and forces in the region without exclusion or marginalization.

U.S. Sanctions on Houthi Militias

The council welcomed the new U.S. sanctions against Houthi militias, viewing them as a crucial step in cutting off funding sources for their military efforts. This action reflects a growing international understanding of the cross-border threat posed by the Houthis.

Regional Developments

On the regional front, the council expressed support for the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces. They reaffirmed Yemen’s steadfast position on Syria’s unity and sovereignty, rejecting any imposition of facts outside the framework of the Syrian state.

Conclusion of Meeting

The council also discussed various issues on its agenda, reviewing the implementation of previous decisions and directives. They made the necessary recommendations to address these matters.

Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, attended the meeting.
