Today, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, Yemen’s Minister of Interior, met with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to explore ways to enhance collaborative efforts in security.
During the meeting, Minister Haidan expressed gratitude for the support provided by the United States. He highlighted the importance of U.S. assistance in key initiatives such as border control programs and the electronic visa project. These efforts play a crucial role in improving security operations and enhancing the capabilities of the Ministry of Interior.
The discussion also covered security arrangements in the temporary capital, Aden. The officials reviewed plans aimed at bolstering stability and maintaining security. They emphasized the need for continued support from allies to reinforce security measures and combat terrorism effectively.
Additionally, the meeting addressed strategies for improving training and development for Ministry of Interior personnel. By enhancing the skills of security forces, the ministry aims to ensure effective law enforcement and public safety.
Minister Haidan pointed out the threats posed by Houthi militias, noting their actions that align with Iranian agendas. He stressed that these activities endanger citizens and pose risks to neighboring countries and international shipping routes.
In response, Ambassador Fagin reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting the Yemeni government and the Ministry of Interior. He emphasized ongoing efforts to strengthen security and stability, as well as to support programs aimed at enhancing counter-terrorism capabilities.
The collaboration between Yemen and the United States reflects a shared commitment to ensuring safety and stability in the region.
