Today, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, Yemen’s Minister of Interior, met with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to explore ways to enhance joint cooperation in security matters.
During the meeting, Minister Haidan expressed gratitude for the support provided by the United States to the Ministry of Interior. This support includes the Border Control Program and the Electronic Visa Project, along with several vital initiatives aimed at improving security operations and enhancing the ministry’s capabilities.
The discussion also covered security arrangements in the temporary capital, Aden. The officials reviewed security plans designed to bolster stability and maintain order. They emphasized the importance of international support for the Ministry of Interior in establishing security and combating terrorism.
Additionally, the meeting addressed strategies for enhancing collaboration in training and capacity building for Ministry of Interior personnel. These efforts aim to improve the efficiency of security forces, enabling them to fulfill their roles in maintaining safety and stability.
Minister Haidan highlighted the threats posed by Houthi militias, noting their actions and ventures that align with Iranian agendas. He stressed that these activities endanger citizens’ safety and threaten neighboring countries, as well as international shipping routes.
In response, Ambassador Fagin reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts, particularly the Ministry of Interior, in enhancing security and stability. He emphasized the importance of programs aimed at developing security capabilities and combating terrorism.
This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between Yemen and the United States in addressing pressing security challenges.
