On Monday, Dr. Ahmed Obaid Bin Daghr, the Chairman of the Shura Council, welcomed Catherine Grame, the French Ambassador to Yemen, to discuss recent developments in the country.
During the meeting, Dr. Bin Daghr praised the ongoing collaboration between Yemen and France across various sectors. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts to achieve stability and development in Yemen.
Dr. Bin Daghr acknowledged France’s historical support for Yemen, particularly regarding its unity, security, and stability. He urged France to exert pressure on Iran to cease its interference in Yemen’s affairs. He asserted that Iranian support for the Houthi militia exacerbates the crisis and hinders peace efforts in the region.
Furthermore, Dr. Bin Daghr appealed to the international community, especially major powers like France, to take effective steps in supporting Yemen against the challenges posed by external interventions. He expressed hope that France would collaborate with international partners to assist Yemen in addressing the humanitarian, political, economic, and living challenges faced by its citizens.
Dr. Bin Daghr also commended the efforts of the Saudi-led Coalition in supporting Yemen and restoring its legitimate institutions. He highlighted the coalition’s crucial role in confronting the challenges faced by the legitimate government and its significant contribution to restoring security and stability in the country.
He noted that the support provided by Saudi Arabia and coalition countries has alleviated the suffering of the Yemeni people. He expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by the coalition to support Yemen and its citizens during these difficult times.
In response, Ambassador Grame reaffirmed France’s steadfast position in supporting constitutional legitimacy and peace efforts in Yemen to maintain its security, unity, and stability.
She stressed the importance of international cooperation in enhancing peace initiatives. Ambassador Grame highlighted France’s role in supporting humanitarian and developmental projects aimed at helping the Yemeni people overcome the crises they face. She assured that Paris would continue to work with its international partners to achieve stability in the region.
The meeting between Dr. Bin Daghr and Ambassador Grame underscores the ongoing commitment of both Yemen and France to work together in addressing the pressing challenges facing Yemen. Their discussions reflect a shared vision for a stable and prosperous future for the Yemeni people.
