The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s “Masam” project has successfully removed 815 landmines from various provinces in Yemen during the second week of October 2025. These mines were planted by Houthi militias, posing a significant threat to civilian safety.
According to a recent statement from the center, the removed mines include six anti-personnel mines, 56 anti-tank mines, 748 unexploded ordnance, and five improvised explosive devices. This brings the total number of landmines cleared in October to 2,134. Since the inception of the “Masam” project, the total number of cleared mines has reached an impressive 518,633.
The indiscriminate planting of these mines has targeted innocent lives, particularly affecting children, women, and the elderly. The ongoing threat has instilled fear in the hearts of many civilians, making the work of the “Masam” project crucial for restoring safety and security in the region.
The “Masam” project continues to play a vital role in Yemen’s recovery efforts by removing dangerous landmines and unexploded ordnance. As the project progresses, it aims to create a safer environment for all Yemenis, allowing them to rebuild their lives free from the fear of landmines.
