Washington, D.C. – Dr. Waed Badhieb, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and Ahmed Al-Mabqi, Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, represented Yemen at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held in the U.S. capital.
During the general session, high-ranking international officials, ministers, and central bank governors from various countries addressed pressing global economic challenges. They outlined strategic directions for the World Bank and IMF in the upcoming period. The discussions focused on how to support member countries in overcoming economic and developmental hurdles.
The session emphasized collaborative efforts to achieve sustainable development. Key topics included tackling poverty, addressing vulnerability, and promoting inclusive economic growth. Additionally, participants discussed strategies to assist nations affected by crises and conflicts.
The Yemeni delegation’s involvement reflects the government’s commitment to actively engage in annual meetings. This participation allows Yemen to stay informed about policy developments and shape both international and local strategies that impact the Yemeni economy and the support provided to the country.
