“Masam” removed 837 landmines in one week, raising the total cleared to over 532,000 mines.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center’s “Masam” Project Removes 837 Landmines in January

In the third week of January 2026, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center’s “Masam” project successfully removed 837 landmines across several Yemeni provinces. This operation included one anti-personnel mine, 104 anti-tank mines, 729 unexploded ordnance, and three explosive devices.

Detailed Operations by Region

Aden Province

In Aden, the “Masam” team removed 242 unexploded ordnance.

Hodeidah Province

In Hodeidah, the team successfully cleared two unexploded ordnance in the Hays district and one unexploded ordnance in the Al-Yatima district of Al-Jawf.

Hajjah Province

The team made significant progress in Hajjah, where they removed 91 anti-tank mines, 167 unexploded ordnance, and one explosive device in the Medi district.

Lahij Province

In Lahij, the team cleared one unexploded ordnance in the Al-Madaribah district.

Marib Province

In Marib, the team removed nine unexploded ordnance in the Wadi district, 12 anti-tank mines, 273 unexploded ordnance, and two explosive devices in the Marib district. Additionally, they cleared one anti-tank mine and seven unexploded ordnance in the Usaylan district of Shabwa.

Taiz Province

In Taiz, the team removed two unexploded ordnance in the Mokha district, one anti-personnel mine, and 24 unexploded ordnance in the Dhobab district, along with one unexploded ordnance in the Salouh district.

Cumulative Impact of the “Masam” Project

As a result of these efforts, the total number of landmines removed in January has reached 2,754. Since the inception of the “Masam” project, the total number of cleared landmines has now surpassed 532,705. These mines, planted indiscriminately by militias, pose a significant threat to civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly.

Ongoing Commitment to Humanitarian Efforts

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center, continues its commitment to clearing Yemeni lands of landmines. This humanitarian initiative aims to enhance civilian safety and enable Yemenis to live in a secure and stable environment.
