Recent reports indicate that Houthi militias are organizing intensive military training sessions for school students in Ibb Governorate. This initiative aims to recruit new fighters for their combat fronts.
Sources reveal that the militias conduct these military courses in several districts, including Jabla, Dhahr, Habish, and Al-Adain. They justify these activities by claiming they are “supporting the resistance in Gaza.” Furthermore, students are compelled to attend these sessions, facing mandatory attendance requirements.
The training sessions take place in various locations, such as the “Martyrs Complex” and “People’s Complex,” as well as other schools. The program combines theoretical and practical components over a period of fourteen days. Students, including minors, must participate, and those who miss sessions face threats of penalties. In contrast, the militias promise academic rewards for those who attend.
Participants are divided into groups for hands-on training, where they learn to handle weapons such as rifles, RPGs, and other military equipment. After completing the theoretical portion, they engage in practical exercises in mountainous areas. The curriculum also includes a rigorous schedule of lectures and sectarian lessons specific to the militia’s ideology.
The ongoing military training for school students in Ibb highlights the Houthi militias’ strategies to bolster their ranks. This alarming trend raises concerns about the implications for the youth and the broader community in the region.
