Virtual Meeting Focuses on Collaborative Efforts
Today, Dr. Qassem Baheeb, the Minister of Public Health and Population, held a virtual meeting with Bart Finstra, the Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Development at the Dutch Embassy. The discussion centered on enhancing cooperation and coordinating efforts to support the health sector.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the Dutch interventions in the health sector. They highlighted key areas such as reproductive health, family planning, and capacity building. The conversation also explored opportunities to direct support towards creating a more sustainable health system, emphasizing data-driven planning and indicators.
Upcoming Dutch Support Initiatives
The meeting addressed the anticipated Dutch support in relevant fields, which will be implemented by UNICEF. Both parties stressed the importance of establishing clear implementation frameworks for the planned support. This approach aims to ensure that assistance aligns with actual health priorities and enhances monitoring systems to achieve the desired impact.
Key Areas for Health Sector Support
Several critical topics emerged regarding support for the health sector. These included revitalizing the drug fund to stabilize pharmaceutical supplies and ensure the regular availability of essential medications. Additionally, the integration of the midwifery program was discussed as a vital initiative to improve reproductive health services and reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates, particularly in rural and remote areas.

Minister Baheeb commended the support provided by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, describing it as a significant contribution to addressing current challenges.
