A tragic landslide in a village in Hongtong County, Linfen City, Shanxi Province, northern China, claimed the lives of five individuals and injured three others. The incident occurred in an area previously identified as prone to landslides, according to a statement from local emergency authorities.

The landslide struck early this morning, burying a house under a significant amount of loess soil. Local authorities promptly dispatched rescue teams to the scene. These teams worked diligently to locate individuals trapped beneath the debris.

Rescue and Medical Response

Rescue teams successfully located all eight individuals buried under the rubble. Unfortunately, five of them had already lost their lives. The remaining three were transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving necessary medical care. Local authorities confirmed that the conditions of the three survivors are stable at this time.
