On Saturday, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, hosted several southern leaders who arrived from the temporary capital of Aden. This meeting took place at the invitation of Saudi Arabia and included prominent figures such as former Hadhramaut Governor Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik and Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, Mohammed Al-Ghaithi.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Alimi emphasized the importance of fostering southern unity during this critical phase in the country’s history. He stated that the current situation does not signify a victory for one side over another. Instead, it aims to correct the course of governance, restore the state’s institutions, and maintain overall stability. Dr. Al-Alimi firmly rejected any exclusion of southern figures from any political faction or movement, praising the genuine national stances regarding the south and its just cause.
Dr. Al-Alimi asserted that addressing national issues must occur through dialogue and a sense of responsibility. He warned against the risk of the country descending into new internal conflicts. He highlighted that the southern cause represents a national priority. The upcoming Southern Dialogue Conference, sponsored by Saudi Arabia, offers a significant opportunity. This conference aims to unify various southern components without exclusion, ultimately leading to a fair vision that reflects the aspirations of all southern citizens.
In response, both Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik and Mohammed Al-Ghaithi expressed their gratitude to Dr. Al-Alimi for facilitating this important meeting. They acknowledged the crucial role Saudi Arabia plays in supporting the comprehensive southern conference. They affirmed that this support represents a serious path backed by regional and international allies, placing the southern cause on the right track according to the will of the southern people.
The meeting underscores a collective commitment to unity and dialogue among southern leaders. As the region navigates its complex challenges, the emphasis on collaboration and inclusivity remains vital for achieving lasting peace and stability.
