The Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah condemned the ongoing targeting of these holy cities by Houthi terrorist militias.
In a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency, the presidency described these criminal acts as a blatant assault on the sanctity of sacred sites. The statement emphasized that such actions represent a gross violation of Islamic teachings, which prohibit aggression and corruption on earth, and mandate the reverence and protection of holy places.
The statement further asserted that targeting civilians, facilities, and sacred sites constitutes a crime that is both religiously forbidden and universally condemned. It also violates international treaties and norms.
The Presidency of Religious Affairs affirmed that these attacks will not undermine the security and stability of the Kingdom. Instead, they will strengthen the resolve of the leadership and the people to protect the sanctities and ensure the safety of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, while confronting any threats to national security and the safety of its visitors.
