Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, today assessed the readiness for signing three vital and strategic road projects in the governorate. The contracts for these projects are set to be signed next week by the Ministry of Public Works and Roads and the Roads and Bridges Maintenance Fund, with implementation by the Public Authority for Roads and Bridges in Coastal Hadhramaut.
This assessment occurred during a meeting with the General Director of the Public Authority for Roads and Bridges in Coastal Hadhramaut, Engineer Taha Bahidra. He presented the completion of the accreditation procedures and the readiness of the projects slated for execution.
The projects include the rehabilitation and improvement of Al-Sixty Street in Mukalla, spanning 9 kilometers from the town roundabout to beyond the platform. The initiative aims to enhance traffic safety by installing over 4,000 reflective road studs and more than 40 traffic signs. Additionally, routine maintenance will take place on the western entrance from the Khumr area, specifically from Ibn Sina to Bir Ali, covering approximately 70 kilometers.
The projects also encompass the maintenance and rehabilitation of the eastern entrance from Al-Diis Al-Sharqiya to beyond Ras Baghashwa, measuring 3 kilometers. This phase precedes the 2027 plan to complete the road extending to Dhanbat and Hadathat, which will total 60 kilometers.
Al-Khanbashi emphasized the significance of these projects in improving the road network, enhancing traffic safety, facilitating the movement of citizens and travelers, and strengthening connectivity between various regions of the governorate. He stressed the need to expedite the signing procedures and commence implementation according to the approved technical specifications, ensuring the timely completion of the projects and achieving their intended goals.
