Human rights network: Fifty-three Houthi violations and four hundred seventeen projectiles targeted Taiz in 48 hours.

Houthi Militias Commit 53 Violations in Taiz, Launch 417 Projectiles

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms reported that Houthi militias have committed 53 crimes and violations against civilians and civilian objects in Taiz Governorate over the past 48 hours. This escalation coincides with the ongoing siege and obstruction of civilian movement and the delivery of essential supplies.

Documented Violations

In a recent update on the human rights situation in the province, the network detailed various documented violations. These include killings and injuries from shelling and sniper fire, abductions and detentions in unknown locations, home raids, targeting residential neighborhoods and public roads, storming civilian facilities and looting their contents, planting explosive devices and landmines in civilian pathways, and tightening restrictions on the movement of residents and access to food, medicine, and fuel.

Civilian Casualties

The report indicated that Houthi attacks resulted in the deaths of three civilians, including a child and a girl. Additionally, a woman named Fakiha Abdul Jalil Sufyan, aged 51, died from injuries sustained from Houthi sniper fire in the village of Al-Amad in the Al-Quroud district while attempting to receive medical assistance.

Injuries and Abductions

The network documented injuries to 19 civilians, including four women and seven children. Among the injured was a two-year-old boy, Hudhayfa Muhammad Abdu Yahya, who suffered shrapnel wounds to the head when Houthi forces targeted his home with a mortar shell in the Najd Al-Arous area.

The report also recorded the abduction of six citizens in the areas of Ta’izz and Al-Hujariya, who were taken to the Al-Salih city. Furthermore, four homes were raided in Al-Hujariya, and 12 houses sustained complete and partial damage due to indiscriminate shelling on populated villages and neighborhoods. Nine private vehicles belonging to citizens in the villages of Dabba, Al-Qahfa, Al-Amad, and other areas in Al-Quroud also suffered damage.

Focus of Houthi Shelling

The report highlighted that Houthi shelling primarily targeted the Kahlān area and surrounding villages in the Sabir Al-Mawadim district, as well as the villages of Dabba, Al-Qahfa, and Al-Amad in the Al-Quroud district and the Najd Al-Arous area. The militias launched approximately 417 projectiles, including mortar shells, artillery, and Katyusha rockets, along with drone attacks on populated areas.

Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

The network warned of the continued fire blockade imposed on the Kahlān, Al-Quroud, Al-Rahn, and Al-Aridah areas southeast of Taiz city. This blockade hampers the arrival of ambulance teams and medical and food aid, exacerbating the suffering of civilians and threatening the lives of the injured and sick.

The network also documented the planting of explosive devices and landmines in civilian pathways in the Al-Makisha village in the Quds area of the Mawasit district. This led to injuries for two children, Muhammad Abdul-Wali Ahmad Mughless and his sister Rania, who required hospitalization at Khalifa Hospital in Ta’izz for treatment.

Urgent Call for International Intervention

The network emphasized that the humanitarian situation in Taiz is deteriorating rapidly due to the siege and repeated shelling of residential areas, amid a worsening crisis of fuel, cooking gas, and shortages of food and medicine. It warned that the continued lack of supplies threatens to halt hospitals and essential services.

The network renewed its appeal to the international community for urgent intervention to save the besieged civilians. It called for pressure on Houthi militias to cease indiscriminate shelling, lift the blockade, and ensure the immediate arrival of ambulance and relief teams, as well as medical and food assistance. The protection of civilians and the guarantee of access to treatment for the injured and sick represent an urgent humanitarian priority that cannot be delayed.
