Hadramut Governor Launches New Era of Connectivity

Today, Salm Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramut, inaugurated the first international flights at Al-Riyan International Airport. This significant step marks a return to stability and the normalization of conditions in the region. The resumption of operations revitalizes a crucial transportation hub for Hadramut and neighboring provinces, which had previously halted due to recent events.

Enhancing Citizen Mobility

In a statement to the media, Al-Khanbashi emphasized that the resumption of international flights will directly alleviate the hardships faced by citizens and facilitate their travel. He praised the efforts of the Airport Security Forces for their vigilance in safeguarding the terminals and essential equipment. Their dedication played a vital role in completing preparations for the airport’s reopening in accordance with established standards.

Acknowledging Collaborative Efforts

Al-Khanbashi also commended the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology and the airport management for their swift actions in rehabilitating and reactivating the airport. He highlighted the role of the National Shield Forces in securing the airport upon their arrival, which significantly contributed to maintaining operational stability during the past months.

The Importance of Al-Riyan Airport

Captain Saleh Bin Naheed, head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, underscored the importance of Al-Riyan Airport as one of Yemen’s key airports. He noted its humanitarian, service, and economic significance due to its strategic location and the broad range of citizens it serves. Bin Naheed reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to developing the airport and training its staff to enhance their skills in line with modern operational requirements and aviation safety standards.

Safety and Readiness Assured

During the event, Anis Basuitin, the airport’s general manager, provided Al-Khanbashi with an overview of the major rehabilitation efforts completed. He detailed the technical and security safety standards met to ensure the airport’s readiness for the resumption of international flights.

The reopening of Al-Riyan International Airport not only symbolizes a step towards recovery but also enhances connectivity for the people of Hadramut and beyond, paving the way for improved travel and economic opportunities.
